[HUG ] Re: IMG: Triptych

Hi guys,

Could you please elaborate on the benefits of scanning to a raw format as opposed to 16 (B&W) or 48 (colour) bit tiff?

Thanks!

Stefano

Yes. I didn't know Silverfast did this as I've never tried it. I primarily
shoot Velvia...

Bob,

Do you scan to RAW? I have both ViewScan Pro and Silverfast AI. I also have
the Silverfast HDR program which allows scanning to RAW.

Hi Rich,

I just finished selling my Hassy V system on ebay and netted enough to buy a used H3D39 kit, 28mm, 50-110mm and a 1.7x converter, I still need to add a few lenses but it's a great start. I'm finding most of the stuff is going to China & Japan but I think I did OK. Watching this stuff sell on ebay in the last 3 months I see that sellers who limit there sales to USA are getting about
30-40% less than those willing to sell to the rest of the world.

Franc

p.s. Have a look at viewscan if you think Silverfast is good, viewscan blows
it out of the water with features at a whole lot less.

Bob,

I am about to start scanning my Hassi stuff using a 9000 and the glass holder. I am using Silverfast AI software. By the way... GREAT work. Love it.

I will have to hold on to my hassi stuff untill it goes up enough to buy me a descent DSLR... I am debating between Nikon and Canon... either a D700 or a
5D. Everyone is so broke right now nothing is selling for much.

Rich

Hi Rich,
Scanned with a Nikon Coolscan 8000ED.
SL66 system is cheaper, more flexible (tilt/shift and bellows built in, 120/220 on the same back, can reverse lenses), same glass, and lighter (no leaf shutters). I used to carry a Flexbody, extension tubes, and 2 backs plus 3 or 4 lenses in a large pack. This kit will fit in a mini-trekker. When I sold my hassy, I was able to buy a pretty high end digital SLR system AND this
system. Worked out well for me...

Bob,

What did you use to scan those?

Why SL66 and not Hassi given the bargins out there right now?

Rich

Having spent the last few weeks migrating from PC to Mac, I was reviewing some old scans. Found this series which I plan to print as 1 print (off a roll).

I miss my hassy...
Starting to build a new 6x6 kit to solve this remorse :-)
