I've been using Photoshop since before 1990:

You make a tiff file from a scanner you've lost all that information just
like if you shot a tiff with your camera.

I'm much more comfortable on how Photoshop works than any quirky scanner
software most of which are as involving and mysterious as alchemy.
That's a big advantages of raw.
Like in when I make image captures with my DSLR Id never dream of not
shooting raw. When I found out I could do that now in my scanning I sure
went for it and it worked out as I thought it would

Lightroom is ok maybe if you are a news photographer going through hundreds
of captures a day and having to meet deadlines going through them and they
are then printed on 80 line newsprint.
I go though hundreds a week. I stick with Photoshop.
My advice to people is that any software which takes away from your time at
Photoshop is a red herring.

Think of your time doing Photoshop as air time to keep your pilots license.
You need miles. You got to keep your hands on.

Adobe is big on duplicitous software they always need to make more money.
I remember they were pushing both Pagemaker and InDesign on you. Still are
maybe.
