Thanks Stefano. Good to know. I'm beginning to think I don't need it at all,
given the sharpness of the equipment. I'll do a trial of large print with and
without based on your experience and see what happens.
Take care,

Bob,
I enjoyed your images very much. I prefer the second version, I also
thought that the first images seemed a bit oversharpened.
I also use the Photokit Sharpener plug-in, but only for prints and
only at sizes A4 or larger. I think that the plug-in was designed for
files from digital cameras with a so-called anti-alias filter. I find
that files from the Nikon 9000/8000 (which I believe is what you use
too) need very little sharpening if any.
I never use the input sharpening modules in the Photokit plug-in (what
they call "Capture Sharpener"). For output, as I said, I use the
"Inkjet Output Sharpeners", but only for largish prints and often I
lower the opacity of the layer created by the plug-in to about 75%. I
also think that for images viewed on screen the "Web and Multimedia
Sharpeners" tend to oversharpen (at least on medium format film
scanned with the Nikon).
