[HUG] Re: H series lens coverage for a 6x6 H

What is it about the H series that attracts you?

The inferior build quality to the 500s?
The inferior reliability?
The smaller size?

To answer the lens coverage question, to cover the 645
format the lens needs an image circle with a 7.5cm
diameter, to cover 6x6 requires 8.5cm. This is quite
a large difference, and it would surprise me if they
designed the H series lenses to cover the 8.5cm circle
- it would mean more weight, slower autofocus, and
higher cost, with no real benefit to the H system.

My 500CM is one of the most highly automated cameras
that I own. My joy in photography comes from creating
images through making decisions about composition,
exposure, focus etc. On the rare occasion that I want
a camera that does those decisions for me, I borrow my
wifes digital P&S - except that I can't do that now
since it is in the repair shop :(.
