[HUG ] Re: Dollar fall kills Hasselblad? (and Leica?)

The US dollar's weakness against other currency, notably the
Euro, and the resulting thread about its harming Hasselblad
prompted me to ask my girlfriend about international sales.
She works in Tiffany & Company's call center as a customer
service agent. She has taken orders for both domestic and
foreign customers, and she says that, if anything, jewelry
sales have at least remained consistent, if not growing.
However, the worldwide fluctuations in precious metals have
affected even them, which will result in price increases on
over 8,000 items.

In a way, though, the steadiness proves something
significant: jewelry serves as a kind of hedge against bad
economic times. For foreigners whose currency is stronger
than the US dollar, it's a boon, especially for people
buying high-end luxury items like jewelry.

Just my two cents' worth.
