I could use big gels.. But remember this lens has a 180 degree field of views ( I think that is right, corner to corner) so keeping the fingers or whatever is holding the filter out of the picture is pretty hard... If you try to bend the filter gel around the front of the lens, the problem is not so much the distortion caused by the bends of gel material, but more likely the reflections of the light hitting those bent areas and causing flare... Now what I could do is to use gels on the BACK of the lens..I did this with a Nikonos lens I had.. You apply a tiny amount of Vaseline to the back of the lens' rear retaining ring, then gently apply the filter to that Vaseline.. The Vaseline holds the filter in place. But it is messy, to say the least ( the Nikonos had the filter semi permanently applied, so it was no problem.)
