[HUG ] Re: Biogons and digital backs

Which brings up the question do we need 50 Mp or even 60 Mp
sensors?

Most of us are just looking for larger sensors not necessarily
sensors with more pixels.

Up till now I have not heard a complaint about the optical qualities
of the Biogon lens as fitted to the SWC camera.

Nice to know the Phase One P65 will show the limits of the Biogon
design.
It does not bother me at all.......

WELL!! some guy at the PHASE ONE both at Photokina this week says the Biogon does not live up to the modern standards of their new back and everybody on
the Hassy list sits here going "gee whiz oh well"!
I think its baloney!

We're supposed to apologize for our not retrofocal true wide angle lens?
I guess computer designed retrofocal lens give you higher line pair sets.
I sure could care less!!
I'm interested in the total design of a true wide angle like the Biogon.
I like the lack of distortion which exists on a level retrofocal lenses
don't touch.
And I like the slight tendency of a true wide to darken in the corners.
To me that's a plus.
I like the simplicity and integrity and compactness of the design.

Is PHASE ONE in bed with a lens making concern?

You don't judge a lens but its line pair sets tests.
You judge it on its ability to render images in the real world
and the thousand natural shocks
That image making is heir to ...

Hi Frank,

What has been said: There will be AF, and the body
will accept MF ( older ) lenses.

That makes more sense IMO...
