Well, it's really all the above.  It costs a lot (more) to make a full frame
sensor...and if they were cheaper and had less fallout etc. they would be
economical.  And, there is market acceptance...which I'm not sure 6x6 would
have these days.

Yes.  But, it's a more "acceptable" format.
