[HUG ] Analogue melt down - or - How Much'll Ya Give me 2.

Dear Friends,

I am now in a new career - that of a professional photographic
salesman. I am the loony old film guy in the pro camera shop who knows the
difference between TRI-X and Rodinal. I kid you not - I have been asked for
Rodinal film. It took me a little while with a Texta, but I was able to
write Rodinal on 50 rolls of 1962 Verichrome Pan and it has been selling
well....

I CAN sell Hasselblad, but at a lower price than before. I CAN sell
Pentax 645 cameras but at a higher price than expected. I do not understand
this, but then I was never good at maths. I have just sent a Pentax 645 kit
off on the back of a cyclist on a tour of our scenic regions, and I hope he
does very well with it. I have also sent a Hasselblad kit on a tour of New
Zealand, along with a Linhof kit and a digital kit. I expect that the owner
of this box of optics will come back with either the greatest pictures of
his life or a hernia.

Folks, the market for the gear is down, but the gear is still up. It
can do what you want, if you want to do it. I am using mine to take pictures
and when a digital back comes along - and it will - I will add it to the
armamentarium. In the meantime I am training with a digital SLR for some
selected jobs.

Do not quit your HB gear for pennies. Keep it, use it. Use it for
the jobs that make you feel good.

 Uncle Dick

PS: Never lose a skill - add a new one.
