Harry,
This means we have to be watching eBay.sa more carefully for very
tempting offers!!
I am glad Hasselblad gear seems to hold ist value to some extent
although I have never seen SWC cameras for that kind of price before.
Lets just enjoy the situation and buy more used film gear and make
the most of these wondeful times.
Digital is mostly for the fast lane where pros have to make a living.
A friend sold his H3D camera to replace it by the Nikon D3.
That left him enough money to buy a vitually unused 202FA with back
and exceptional 110 FE lens.
I advised him a year ago not to sell his mint 203FE.
My advise has now been realised he is partly back with film.
This was caused by new developments in digital making those
cameras better allowed him to buy Nikon digital and a nice
Hasselblad kit for which paid only 1250 euro.....

Hi all
As I sit here on the southern tip of Africa watching this thread I have
mixed feelings. Like some, I don't intend selling any of my film equipment
as it really has no re-sale value. But the situation is allowing me to buy
some wonderful stuff! This morning I am collecting, from my local camera
store, a full Mamiya 330 kit. 3 lenses, prism, brackets, filters, the lot
for R350.00 ($42.00 or 30 EURO). Most of it boxed, or in its leather
cases - hardly used. I fell slightly sorry for the seller but that is the
reality of the situation here. He, on the other hand, has just bought a
digital SLR which he has paid dearly for.
The price of digital, and new stuff here is disproportionately high when
compared to the US. Cameras are about 25% more here than in the US, but
lenses are the worst. On example is the Canon 85 f1.2 lens. In the US it
costs $1800.00 - about R14 000.00 in our money. However it retails here
for R25 000.00! And the local distributors can't understand why more
people are shopping online.
Anyway, enough moaning and OT discussion for a Monday morning.
Second-hand Hasselblad stuff here is still quite pricy, but I did buy a
SWC for R5000.00 ($600 or 420 EURO)
Cheers for now
Harry

The point is, in case you missed it, I never plan on selling or giving
up the Hasselblad therefore the price I would get for it is on no
importance.
Tom is also trying to get rid of things he doesn't need or wants.
The point i was trying to put before him was that the price he would get
for it is of no importance.
;-)
That was understood the first time.
My point is that for me, I am happy with my equipment and do not plan to
sell it. Hence, if the prices continue to fall, it will not hurt me, but
I may buy more equipment.
