I buy cars based on what I will need in the long term and never worry about depreciation. I drive these cars until the wheels fall off. So I do not worry about the selling price.

I use the same philosophy when I buy a camera. I keep it until it is no longer worth repairing. The only exception was to get rid of my old Minolta gear [that I had not used in over five years since I was shooting 50 rolls of 135-36 a year with my Nikon] and inherited Mamiya C330 gear [all the lenses evr made for it and more] that I did not like as a teenager so that I could buy a Hasselblad. I do not care what happens to the Hasselbad prices as long as I can continue buying Hasselblad equipment that I can afford. I will not sell any of it since I will take it with me into the afterlife.
