mixture of basic and arm assembler. I am not sure what processor it
was on but he got 13,875 hashes/sec.
Maybe I can find the mail if I still have it see if it gives the
processor.
Archimedes machines are fairly rare (almost entirely a UK-only
phenomenon, like the BBC before it), and the most probable models use a
40MHz ARM610 or earlier. I believe there was a model with a 200MHz
StrongARM, but I don't think many were sold - my memory is hazy on
whether it actually got to market.
Given a 40MHz ARM610, the performance demonstrated is OK but not
outstanding. It's slower than a 486 would now be at the same clock
speed, for example, and I know from personal experience that the ARM610
is *massively* faster than an equivalent 486. So, either he's using
one of the older Arc models, or his code isn't very efficient. Or
both.
