Eh well my laptop is dying, so I had the occasion to install fedora core2 on my old amd k6-2 300Mhz. So here is the speed result: -O3 -funroll-loops -march=k6-2 -mmmx -m3dnow Rate Name (* machine default) 207145 ANSI Compact 1-pipe 189855 ANSI Standard 1-pipe 188927 ANSI Compact 2-pipe 180969 ANSI Standard 2-pipe 429635 AMD64/x86 MMX Compact 1x2-pipe 397265 AMD64/x86 MMX Standard 1x2-pipe * so 429635 for a 300Mhz cpu vs 3741983 for a 3.06Ghz cpu is a factor of 8.7 slower but a factor of 10.2 difference in clock rate. AMD k6-2 is doing not bad for a 2 generations older 1/10th clock rate cpu. Adam
