It was installed by jam when you compiled it. Small error in the jamfile that

This is not related. The virtualdrive driver is not used on your system, so I 
can't be doing any more than 
execute init_hardware() which only prints one line using dprintf. 
And as far as I know, other binaries don't install themself.

I agree with you, it shouldn't be installed by doing a simple compile :-)
