I have tested with archives of multiple files now, and can confirm that it does
expand everything. This applies as long as you open the first file (with
extension rar). Opening any of the other (r00, r01, ...) doesn't work since no
expander rules exist for those.
Is it possible to create expander rules which only takes mime type into account
and doesn't care about extension (or possibly accept wildcards like ".r*")?

Yeah, sounds like a good idea to send them a mail and ask, but how do you know
what parts you are paying for when buying a distro?

Have you considered adding this standard function to stdio.h (as I mentioned in
my original post)?
extern void setbuf(FILE *file, char *buff);

Also, have anyone thought about using "tar -tf" instead of "tar -tvf"?

(The webmail I'm using unfortunately doesn't seem to support the threaded view
or whatever it's called)
