I believe that any user-oriented content that could be
interpreted as "Haiku is ready" should be put off until
the release of at least a public beta (if we will have
such a thing) or beyond. While what falls into that
category may debatable, but anything that carries the
word "user" is a suspect. :-)
Material that isn't public is less likely to see contribution.
This is what open source is about.
Sure. But we are talking *only* about any material and/or message that
could make people think that Haiku is ready for the end user before it
really is. This concern was expressed to me in the course of the
discussion on whether marketing was needed nor not, and it is in that
line of thought that we need to make developers our primary audience.
But it does not have to be all or nothing; tricky stuff. :-)
...
From all my past experiences, in a collaborative efforts
that involve multiple individuals, all discussions happen
during the planning stage, conceptual mockups are then
created to define the organization/layout/design of each
area, and then but only then is the web developer cut loose
to do his work. The problem is not that we are having
discussions, but that we are having the discussions after
the fact.
Welcome to the bazaar!
Like a wrote on OSNews, we need a little of both.
Absolutely! And that is what I am pursuing: a good balance. :-)
