I can only second that. There should be small tools to get the job done 
and to handle a variatiy of situations. That way, without knowing a 
system, one can rely on certains things being there. I'd rather say to 
someone "Sorry I cannot fix it, you have removed XXX." than "What? You 
haven't installed XXX - sorry cannot help you.". Or just think of 
scripts that you could read about in some user forum, they should work 
on all systems (how many install scripts launch SE, even though that is 
not my default editor).
Even if a certain user is not going to use something, there is a 
certain value in being able to rely on the something being there. Here 
is another idea: Let's first get to the stage of having a downloadable 
ISO, and if it's too big, start thinking about how to make it smaller.
