I'm a SCSI newbie, but I have it plugged in the same way it was with
the server it was in, using only the endmost connector. The other
connectors don't have termination caps or anything on them...should
they? Anyway, maybe I'll put that IDE back in. I did check the IDE
and power cables a few times too though.

occasional disk transfer problems due to the system cache being
overwritten by something else. This problem can also show up when
accessing a device with larger blocks than usual, like a CD. To fix
it, increase the cache size. There's a tip on how to do that:

Wow...I had forgotten about that! Yes, I'm up to 384 MB now (from 288,
though...). I followed the tip to

Change 2048 to 16384.

...but Tracker still hung. However, it hung after 26,000 of 34,000
files, which is a lot further than it was getting before. Should I put
it at an even higher value? What's safe?

Thanks very much for your help!
