You got that wrong - "chroot" is not about changing the root user, but
the root directory.
In BeOS, its equivalent would be something like change_boot_directory()
(which, of course, doesn't exist).
A call like this could be used to directly switch to a freshly
installed BeOS, without the need to reboot after the installation. It's
definitely not useless - it would be a nice and subtle addition, and
something I intend to do some day.
You install the OS in less than 10 minutes and can use it right away,
even without having to reboot. That's something that would give you the
right BeOS philosophy from the start :))
