It was my understanding that the current source tree is a branch of another open source project (which has a design similar to BeOS) which was either based on Linux or a branch off a Linux tree. Please current me if I'm wrong. As for having Unix "under the hood", I would say that's not an accurate statement because it appears that we've rewritten/modified all the major parts of the kernel.
