What do you mean? Bubbled edges or something? :)
I would also not make it transparent: the user should be able to easily 
read what it contains.

I don't know if priorities are needed - these messages should be not so 
important by definition (if they were really important, you should 
consider using a different mechanism).
But maybe it's a good idea to add a category to it.

I would even go further in a different direction and would add 
functionality to it, like a button to close it, or a button to bring 
that stupid window into focus :)
