Adding something new doesn't necessarily hurt backwards compatibility. We had a pretty extensive discussion about GCD in the #haiku-dev IRC channel last night, and the basic conclusion was that adding a global thread work queue API isn't a terrible idea. Whether the GCD API is the best choice for that is still up for debate. Also it would be worthwhile to do some experiments and further testing to see if the C blocks really improve the syntax as much as claimed. Even though I'm probably automatically in the "pro-blocks" camp because of my Ruby experience I still think it would be good to experiment a bit before making any conclusions. And of course at the end of the day Haiku probably has more pressing issues before we worry too much about this. But it never hurts to plan for the future. -- Regards, Ryan
