Hello Andrew,
I was involved in adding support for Japanese encoding to MDR/Bemail
together with AGMS in the past, and as far as I know Japanese encoding
support has been completed for more than a year now. I have been using
MDR since then receiving and sending Japanese messages on a daily basis
with a significantly wide variety of people, and as far as I can tell
there are no pending issues.
One little touch that could be added to make Bemail more user friendly
is an option so that Bemail uses the encoding of the message that you
reply to or forward. Right now it always defaults to the same encoding
selected in preferences, so if you are replying or forwarding a message
in a difference encoding than the default, you have to manually change
the encoding in Bemail before you send the message. Perhaps this option
could be added to the "Encodings" pull-down menu in the
"Preferences..." screen. This would be very handy for those of us who
receive/send email in multiple languages.
Cheers!
Koki
