BeOS already includes
libz.a in /boot/develop/lib/x86
zlib.h in /boot/develop/headers/gnu

to you already can use lossless compression with any app you may develop.
You don't need an extra kit for it.
Many things already exist, in open source form, like math kits, or compression
kits. You don't need OpenBeOS in order to use them.

There is a RAR port on BeBits. Also an ACE port is available.
I really don't see why we would need a special compression kit.

If you have too much free time and want to do something useful for OpenBeOS,
feel free to contact me.
