[openbeos] Re: Waltercon 07

It applies to both Waltercon and BeGeistert and any other conference people want me (as OSNews) to attend. You made it seem as if me being merely 'interested' would be more than enough to actually go. Which is not the case, as I've been trying to say.

Quote Thom Holwerda:
"Were WalterCon to be held in Europe, I can go there to write detailed
reports for OSNews, hopefully doing my own (little) part in what you
described above. There is little I can promise though, sadly, since
OSNews is a voluntary effort so most of the cost of going/staying there would probably rest on my own shoulders (it might be OSNews' owner chips
in, but I don't know)."

Disingenuous? Naive? Or simply duplicitous?

What is so hard to understand about all this? Speaking about Waltercon, I said that I am willing to go, but that it depends on my financial and time situation whether or not I can actually go.

This exact same situation applies to ANY other conference I would like OSNews to report on. In the past I have pondered going to BeGeistert (or the Apple show in Paris, or that OSS conference in Brussels), but sadly, I simply did not have the time and/or money to actually go. I have to pay for these things myself, since, contrary to popular belief, OSNews editors and admins do not get paid for the work they do.

I don't know how I can make it any clearer.
