The bigger USB size you have the more they cost.
I prefer to spend 10 € for something useful, instead of 5 € for something I don't need. Or even donate 10 € straight. 



How about a olpc approach? By one pay for 3?  That way I’m getting
something nice for my money and Haiku gets USB’s to give/sell at
different events.


Well, I don't stuff like OLPC at all :-)
And that approach does not apply here: the extra OLPCs will go to underdeveloped countries, they're not given away for free at some computing events to people who can afford it. I've seen people taking those free USB keys at events and throwing them into the closest trash bin.
