My personal reason for an extra accessible deskbar replicant, is to switch between Net+ and NetPenguin for ftp links, depending on the webpage with the link(s) and how I think I will use the ftp server. (getting a single file, browsing subfolders randomly, etc) Btw, I envision a browser that offers an "Open with..." -like menu, with the apps capable of handling the righ-clicked link. - Such a feature would make my deskbar replicant somewhat redundant. :) > > > What about a "pretty" name for the protocols? > > > Like what the FileTypes menu is doing? > > > That would create a much better user experience, > > > > It could easily result in a worse user experience too. > > > > What you see now is the last part of the internal name. > > It's uniform, and it will stay uniform unless someone goes > > and adds a mixed-case, or upper-case URL type. > > It's uniform yes, but we would control the initial look, so the > "pretty names" could also be uniform. The pretty names could clash, if someone's stupid enough to make the clash. :] > At least they really should have a description :-) But they do! :) Just run the script named RemoveURLTypes.sh, and relaunch URL Handlers) Check the new version at http://www.kirilla.com/jonas/tmp/URLs.zip I've added a mailto type, and a muscle type too.
