as i said, there is a hebrew input method. on bebits. it doesn't work all the way. delimiters are still a problem.
i asked for the source and didnt get a response.

i dont know many other israeli beos users so i have no idea how they cope with it.

we don't.
another thing, many (all?) hebrew fonts have some english characters as well, so u can't just turn the text input direction
the moment u switch to a hebrew font..
anyway, as for me, it's not hebrew that's keeping me away of beos.
on my second and new computer i can't boot beos because of athlon xp or because of the sis motherboard, and i tried all patches available.
and on my first and old comp, i have beos, but no internet connection since i couldn't find a supported modem in israel.
(which costs less than a 100$)
it's a hybrid environment for me..
anyway, i'm just eager to run the new kernel in its own partition already(bfs) and build the rest from there (new appserver)..
but i bet when these (new cpus and hebrew support) two problems are solved, many people i know would love an os that flies on modern hardware, intuitive beautiful easy to use and install, and does everything they need.

a cute thing i learned yesterday is that phoenix works *perfectly* will all hebrew encoded HTMLs. just wonderful :).
(so that's solved.. and yes i know its because of mozilla.. still great.)

However, from what I can tell drawing strings in a particular direction is a property of the font that you are using and can not be set arbitrarily. What this means for bidi text in general I don't know but unless it's automagically supported when you change the font to a hebrew font it won't be even marginally supported until R2. If it is automagically supported then perhaps maintaining the text alignment will be enough to make stylededit usable, if only for reading.
I understand there are still some input method issues and those will not be addressed until someone donates us a hebrew input method. :-)
