[openbeos] (Somewhat Off-topic) Linux Bloat

ITToolbox just published a pointer article referencing Bob Marr's piece at
OSNews titled:
"The Fast-Food Syndrome: The Linux Platform is Getting Fat".

Here is the URL:

The topic of Linux's disconcerting "thickening about the middle" seems to be
gaining some currency in the tech press.

Everyone who worries about this problem should immediately think of Haiku as
the solution to the problem. Creating this "mental linkage" in the minds of
the geek intelligentsia will be one of our more important tasks over the
coming year, I would argue.

The need for a new slim, well-designed platform -- with relatively modest
hardware requirements -- is clear and present, and Haiku is perfectly suited
to meet the need. We just have to get the word out (and, of course, support
the Haiku development team in every way imaginable, morally, financially,
and otherwise).

The fact that Haiku comes under the MIT/BSD license perhaps makes it
appealing to the largest possible audience, from corporate robber barons at
one end of the spectrum to all but the most inflexible free software
advocates at the other end. This, too, is a distinct advantage for our
platform.
