This looks like the bug with A20 that a lot of people had earlier.
What kind of hardware are you running?

If you want to have a more stable environment, you have to boot

Hmm, if I try to start in savemode or any 32bit vesa video mode,
the
system resets the laptop after a very short read from HD (I see
the
bootlogo for about a half of a second).
That's strange, especially since the app_server is working.
However, our fake_app_server (which currently runs in safe mode)
was
not working correctly (I've fixed it now), and thus should have
left
you with the boot logo (but no certainly restart).
I can confirm this behaviour. When I press the spacebar during
startup
and immediately choose to continue (without adjusting any of the
options) the computer will show the Haiku-bootlogo for a short time
and then resets. What's strange is that there's also no debug-info
transmitted over the serial port.
So it does work for you when you don't press space and get into the
boot menu?
Bye,
Axel.
