I've lost my nerves after 200 pages while reading Bruce Eckel's Thinkink
in C++. I like Steven Prata's C++ Primer Plus the most.

I've looked a bit around using Google:

"Starting to Program BeOS"
http://www.neo-programmers.com/english/res/beapi/articles/start_program/index.shtml

A good reference book as cited by former Be engineers Jon Watte and Marco Nelissen and others seems to be:

The C++ Programming Language by Bjarne Stroustrup
http://www.research.att.com/~bs/3rd.html

Thanks for the references to Bruce Eckel's books, reading them right now!
