[openbeos] Re: Site Audit

IMHO we could preserve ZETA apps with sources as they can quite easily ported to haiku. Many apps just are r5 + locale kit. Some others that use Zeta interface classes can be altered with a little bit of effort.

I am also trying to go with Haiku as much as I can, as both R5
       and ZETA
have no future anymore ... but I still keep in mind that there
       are still
quite a number of people around using those 2 OS's.

Yes but Haikuware is centered on Haiku not R5 or Zeta.

K but why host R5 files then?

I thought that much would be clear... because Haiku is aiming to be R5 compatible.

It wasn't Karl's decision that Haiku would be R5 compatible but not ZETA compatible. At the time this decision was made by the Haiku developers, ZETA was still alive and a moving target. Haiku R1 is specifically aiming to reimplement a fixed target. ZETA is not moving any more, but I am sure most people don't want to hold up the release of Haiku R1 for making it ZETA compatible as well. Furthermore, some stuff was implemented in ZETA that Haiku developers disagreed with on a technical merit, like for example the Local Kit. So I guess that we don't want to add more support for API that we would like to implement in a different way in post-R1 releases of Haiku. There is already enough of that just by implementing all the R5 APIs. I hope you understand.
