I got shafted twice with BeOS. I had version from dr8 through R4.5 on PPC hardware... then support was dropped. I did understand the the financial reasons for the decision, but I wasn't really happy about it. So I sat there until there was too much intel only software and updates. R5 was the nail in that coffin. Then I went out and got an x86 box because I still believed in the OS. Shortly after that, Be shifted focus to the BeIA. Then support dwindled to nothing again. I understand the business logic, but I was sorta screwed again. I sincerely hope that Palm develops BeOS or opens at least some of the source to make our job easier, I just can't envision a scenario where this is an obvious, good financial move for Palm. I truly hope I'm wrong, but considering that Palm isn't interested in desktop systems, I don't see what motivation they have to help the Be community. Let's hope I'm wrong. I've already been abandoned by Be Inc. twice. This makes me cranky and skeptical about Palm ;) -Fred
