Ok - thnx guys, I actually just stumbled across a linux driver which
I'll have to have a look at. Hope this is gonna be easy is all I can
say! I'm an electronic engineer by trade, not a programmer so if it
gets beyond conceptional stuff I'm pretty well screwed! Ah well in for
a penny and all that....
BTW it was written using source from emagic (I mailed them too as I know
they were working on one themselves but gave up because of difficulties
having multi-outs, anyone else know about such a prob with the media
kit?), and given under the virus known as GPL. Doesn't bother me though
- it's a driver so if someone else can improve on it, I want it
published.
Regards
Andy.

You need to find documentation first. Ask the vendor, if you don't find
any.
If the vendor can't help, buy another card. Or try to find freebsd or
Linux
sourcecode for the driver. Be aware that you can't use GPL driver
source
code with BeOS. Ask the driver writers, the must have got some
documentation.
Try to find other persons writing a soundcard driver. Try to find out
if the chipset
of your card is compatible to other chipsets, and ask those vendors for
documentation...

You need to find information first.

I accidently wrote a soundcard driver supporting the SIS735 chipset,
when I wrote a driver for my intel chipset :)
