[openbeos] Re: OS Propaganda.... A new world order!

I want to shorten this to a few key points, then answer them:
1) Drivers are a critical key to the success of OpenBeOS.

Agreed, to a degree. One thing that is a vast improvement in situation is that
there is more standardization in hardware. There are only a few video cards out
there, really - nVidia, Radeon, Matrox, etc. A lot of USB devices (which are
the future for many things) use standardized APIs (mass storage, HCI, etc). So
there will be fewer drivers to write than, say, 5 years ago.

2) Command line sucks for average users.

Agreed. And R1's interface is easy enough to use for now. Certainly
improvements can be made. But it should be a) an R2+ thing and b) way down on
the priority list.

3) OpenTracker is moving too slowly.

Whoa. The reason that OT isn't moving so fast is that the maintainer (Axel) was
the major guy on OBFS. Without BGA and he, there would be *NO* OBFS. Yes, OT is
kind of "on hold" for the moment. But some small features are being added and
it is very solid and stable. There are far bigger fish to fry. Also, I think
that there is a lot of uncertainty about what the desktop *should* look like.
No one knows what the "next big thing" in UI will be.

4) Lurkers aren't workers.

I agree. And if you can encourage the lurkers, more power to you.
