[openbeos] Re: News and newbies

Dan -

Glad to have you!
Here is a cut and paste from an article I am working on, on how to get started:

So... You want to be an Open BeOS (OBOS) developer:

First of all, welcome. This is a huge challenge, great fun and a neat place to
be. We are all learning a lot as we dig in.

Things you will need:
1) A functional copy of BeOS. Either from free.be.com or buy it from Gobe.
2) Read the BeBook. At the very least, the application kit and the support kit.
Plus whatever you are going to work on (see 4).
3) A sourceforge account. When you have it, mail it to your team leader.
4) An assignment/area to work in. I am trying hard to assign people where they
have interest, or if they have no preference, to what needs to be done.
5) You will probably want to be on the OBOS mailing list: You can subscribe by
sending email to openbeos-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with 'subscribe' in the Subject
field OR by logging into the Web interface.

Let me know when you are at this point and I will find an assignment for you.
:-)
And again, welcome!
