Additionally, there are ways to make a page look less crowded, such as using a slightly smaller font size, a lighter font color, and an increased line spacing; this would have the visual effect of creating more white space, and make the whole page look lighter. It would allow you to expose the same amount of information without feeling crowded.

I would avoid making the text any smaller. In fact, I think it's currently a little too small... I'd like to see the font-size and the line-spacing for the top three segments increased a bit.

The line-spacing should help neutralise the cluttering effect of increasing the font-size, while making the content easier to read.

Good advise. :-)

I'm also not crazy about the light-grey on white... it's difficult to read. Perhaps black for normal text, and a darker grey for the links? Or maybe even just a darker grey for normal text, and a darker still grey for the links (maybe bold?)

You are right. I made the suggestion without paying attention to the existing color. Yes, if we are going to use grey for the body text, it is preferable that it be dark grey.

I don't mean to sound criticising, it's just that I feel we're really onto something with this design!

Tweaking and more tweaking!

On the matter of "the most important content should get more attention" (sic), the content on the upper half of the page has a stronger focus (closer to the top of the page, slightly bigger fonts for titles, visual aides), and this space will be used for the things that need to be emphasized at any given point of time. What we put into this area will change over time, depending on stage of development, ongoing events, etc.

All the more reason to give it a boost in visibility (font-size) and readability (line-spacing). :)

Go for it!

Koki
