I think NewOS is to be used as the base kernel because it is a ready made kernel which has pretty much what we need. NewOS is also ported to several different hardware platforms including Dreamcast which i think is rather cool. and iMac support is comming (hopefully thats the same as their G3 and up line). -yt ----- Original Message ----- > > Hi everybody, > > I'm Emmanuel Jacobs, living in Belgium / Europe. > I went to BeOS since release 3 upto release 5 but several months ago I left > de BeOS community because I felt disapointed by Be attitude and felt there > was no hope about the BeOS as Desktop OS Be Inc.. > > Now, I fell there are some people here wanting to build something a-la-BeOS > and I'll be glad to join this effort. > > I'm network consultant and have knowledge in system programing (mainly > hardware related things) but I've not a lot of experience with C language > coding. > I'd like to join the network team in this effort and I'm also interrested in > the kernel code. > I already subscribed an account on http://www.obedn.com/ as EJI. > > I was previously somewhat active in the Freedows project, then in > AllianceOS/Network team. > > Ok, questions now: > > - Who are the people involved with the networking stuff ? > - Is there a dedicated mailing list for the net_server/networking stuff ? > - Is this possible to organize the OpenBeOS project into two sub projects: > 1) A project aiming at replacing the actual kits and servers with open > source modules (so developpers can continue with applications developments > asap) > 2) Another project aiming at building a new kernel for OpenBeOS (so the > future of OpenBeOS can be assured) > > Best regards, > > Emmanuel > >
