See Christian Klassen's mail for a solution. I don't know yet why DHCP 
doesn't work for you, but if it helps, it also doesn't work on my 
laptop using the ipro1000 driver. It doesn't seem to be a general 
problem of the DHCP implementation (other than not giving up or trying 
more often), as it works with the same router on another machine.
