That's the only thing that makes sense; why should we just throw away 
any effort that has put into Java so far?

We don't need the whole thing, even worse, we cannot legally publish 
it. All we need are the BeOS specific changes of it as well as the 
exact version number.
Then we can open a repository on SF or BerliOS, put the open sourced 
Java into it (when it becomes available completely), add the BeOS stuff 
to it, and port it over to that new version.
It doesn't make much sense to continue working on the old version, when 
that one is not open source.
