Just to add I tried the Legacy Sata last night using a Sata to Pata
adapter that came with a mobo. Seemed to work fine, although I don't
know if this is a true test??? I looked at the syslog, but couldn't
actually tell what driver it was using. It was 2am so my eyes weren't
working to well. :) I tried AHCI mode in the bios too, but it didn't
work (syslog available too). Mobo chipset is ALI 5288.

Well done to all involved in the Sata journey. :)
