At this point, it is totally up to the respective designer, if and how to 
do shadows. After the icon contest, we will make up our minds about this, 
and write this down in The Guidelines.

We have to be realistic, the 3D icons are totally out of the question right 
now. Actually, I don't think your last statement is true from an artistic 
perspective.
