Fortunately for Haiku, the chicken and egg problem (an OS without
software is useless) does only partially exist thanks to the binary
compatibility to BeOS and the huge amount of free software that exists.
By getting the damn thing out of the door we can only increase the
potential user base. Since we have limited resources (like everybody
else), we need to focus our resources to achieve Haiku R1. Having a
decent IDE and light-weight browser is a good idea, having a good and
Haiku tailored office solution is desperately needed. However, to get
these things right, there are a lot more resources needed than we can
spend in the forseeable future.
And even though a browser like Firefox might end up in the Haiku
distribution, there is no need to copy it into our repository, and the
same is true for many many other things. What you'll find in the
repository is Haiku the system, not Haiku the distribution.

Bye,
   Axel.
