I think we should provide a basic IDE, and when Java gets ported we
can get Eclipse, or people can port their favorite other IDEs. Like
Ingo says, a full blown IDE is a big project and best served by third
parties.

Yes definitely. BeIDE was a simple IDE. And it definitely is very
useful for people getting into the OS (and we definitely need these
new coming developers as well, be it application or system level).

And its not too hard to implement a BeIDE-level IDE (probably the
editor will be a hard task), and Haiku would benefit from a
simplistic, native IDE. Because realistically, Eclipse is a much
longer way off.
