As for building a Hybrid within Haiku, i've still yet to manage one myself.
Here's what someone said about it :
    you can build a hybrid just fine under haiku
    you just don't want to build the cross compiler yourself
    instead just install the regular gcc4 for haiku and
    specify it with the cross-tools prefix
