[openbeos] Re: How can we recruit more programmers ?

I don't know exactly what all happened to it, but a while back
someone tried putting together a BeOS programming newbie website. I did a
couple tutorials way back when (like R3), a version of Hello World using
Pulse to rotate through messages like "Hello, Hello World, Hello World!" A
tutorial of directly accessing a VGA frame-buffer using a BDirectWindow, and
a few other random examples relating to ideas I had when working through
some BeBochs and media consumer/producer stuff. Hopefully some stuff still
exists out there, but I don't know how much useful stuff you'll find. Best
of luck, it's a big task but if done well, it will be a great help to those
wanting to write new applications once the OpenBeOS stuff gets ironed out a
bit more.

P.S. Since I don't post here very often, congrats to everyone involved, keep
up the good work. One more year of school left and then I may get back into
programming for fun :-). This time I'll have a much better idea of what's
going on, although looking back I pulled off some pretty cool stuff back in
the day.

i think that settles it then - a basic tutorial fit for students who
have finished a C++ course.

something to help a person who might be able to write a basic command
line app get into writing a GUI app (a description that fits myself)

if anyone has any suggestions, email me. i'll start putting something
together in my spare time and will post info at

http://beos.jared.dnsalias.org/

the dummy page that is there now will likely be as pretty as it gets -
i'm not into html, just c++. the rest of the content will be
downloadable GoBe Productive documents, saved to html format using
GoBe's translator. unless, of course, there is a quick and reasonable
consesus for a differnt course of action.

and thank you, Czeslaw, for being a catalyst for me :)
