HA! I finally remembered how I got Haiku booted on PowerPC last time I did
it...
The problem is that for some reason OpenFirmware was not picking up the
location of the boot loader from \ppc\bootinfo.txt on the boot cd (maybe
this file is not in the right format or something? Maybe it's not blessed
properly?)
Here are revised instructions for the PPC images at
http://unixzen.com/haiku-ppc.
1) Burn the haiku-boot-cd-ppc.iso image to a cd.
2) write haiku.image to a usb stick (optional, if you just want to see the
bootloader this is not needed)
3) put the cd from step 1 into the PowerPC system
4) Boot the system and enter the OpenFirmware prompt ( hold: ' command +
option + o + f ' at boot)
5) type ' boot cd:,\ppc\boot_loader_openfirmware ' OR ' boot
cd:,\ppc\boot_loader_openfirmware_coff ' (cant remember which one)
6) profit... maybe.
The current images are not booting on my recently acquired PowerBook
Lombard, but I am sure the boot loader was working on my G4 Quicksilver in
December 2008.
These instructions will be added to the iso/image page at
http://unixzen.com/haiku-ppc.
Thanks!
