We do have all the info we need. Macs are fairly homogenous,
hardware-wise, and everyone already has open-source drivers for it (even
Apple). For example, basically all of the pre-G3 powermacs have the same
kind of NIC, the same soundcard, the same SCSI controller, the same
serial controllers, etc. Every mac since then has had a different NIC,
but it's all the same one (AFAIK). Same with sound, etc. As for
graphics, it's just Radeons and GeForce cards. The only snag are the new
Airport cards, which are rebranded Broadcom 4306s, which no one knows
how to write drivers for.
