[openbeos] Re: Haiku logo font

Thanks for the reply Stippi. :)

Neither versions of Futura seem to come close to the typeface used in the logo; the characters are (visibly) wider, and there are clear differences in the shape of some letters (particularly the K and the U).

In the past, DarkWyrm also suggested the use of Century Gothic, but this font has not-so-subtle differences too.

Perhaps the person who originally designed the logo (would be nice to know who it was), can shed some light if he/she is reading this.
I can vouch that it is definitely Futura, because some years ago I asked stubear, the guy who made the logo, what font it was and that was the answer I received. AFAIK the logo was done in Illustrator, so, like stippi said, it has probably received some tweaking from there.

I did a visual comparison, and here it is how it turned out:

Please note that the Limerick font is a bitmap, so it may be not very accurate. However IMHO, from an overall balance, thickness and shape POV, Limerick looks the closest that I have seen so far to the font used in the Haiku logo.

FWIW.

Cheers,

Koki
