I can't remember any change that could have caused this. OTOH I
experience the same problems under real hardware. At first I thought
the new direct message code was to blame, but turning it off didn't
help at all.
If anyone has an idea which release brought these problems could save
me some time :-)

That's probably related to some thread priority changes some weeks ago
plus the new direct message passing. I'm more or less sure, though,
that Haiku performance didn't feel that flaky afterwards (as it does
now).
